Business Manager's Update
Posted On: Jun 23, 2020

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Throughout everything that the last few months have thrown at us, IUOE Local 701 members have come together to show that we are as strong as ever. Hours are up, and our members are working. While it is hard to start the summer without seeing each other at a union meeting, especially with the record turnouts that we have had and the great times with the pancake breakfast, it is shaping up to be a busy year and we will have another meeting and retiree breakfast as soon as the county allows us. I want to thank our journeymen who are working hard to help get jobs for and train our apprentices. The next generation of apprentices is our future, and our apprenticeship program is going strong. While many programs are still shut down, we developed state-of-the-art safety procedures that enabled us to interview approximately 200 applicants and accept 48 new apprentices for summer. Your local is not sitting still or idle. We are pushing forward, hard and fast, and setting the bar for safety while protecting our work.

Always in solidarity,

James Anderson

Business Manager/Financial Secretary
