Business Manager's Update (July 8, 2020)
Updated On: Jul 08, 2020

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

COVID-19 has hit our communities hard. If we do not step up, the choice will be made for us and our livelihoods will suffer. We have been in close contact with state and local officials to make sure that we can continue working, that is why we bought thousands of masks two months ago. As your Business Manager, I am highly recommending that you put on your mask and observe social distancing because it will save someone’s life. If you do not have a mask yet, call your rep or call the hall at 503-650-7701.

Our Local led the way in our region by providing masks for members, retirees, and family members before they were required for COVID-19. We know our work, we know what must be done, and we know how to do it safely. We owe it to our other union brothers and sisters and their families to protect each other and protect our communities by wearing a mask and observing social distancing.

I am proud to be a part of our Local and proud of what our membership has done to keep everyone safe. It is important for you to know that our hours are up, our trusts are healthy, and our members are setting the example of what it takes to make sure everyone goes home safe at the end of a hard day. If we do not take the lead today, we will not have work tomorrow.

Always in solidarity,

James Anderson

Business Manager/Financial Secretary
